When youre away from home, its always handy to have information about how things are in your house. Motes are wireless remote sensors that collect data on temperature, humidity, light and other data, then relay that info to your smartphone.
The company, Wimoto, plans three different kinds of Motes. The �Climote� collects data on temperature and humidity. The �Growmote� looks for data on sunlight, soil temperature, and soil moisture. And the �Thermote� is a thermometer that reads the temperature of various objects. Motes are light, weighing about an ounce and measure an inch on each side.
Nicolas claims the battery on each lasts for about a year. All the motes can connect to your phone via Bluetooth using a custom iOS or Android app. The minimalist design is simple to read and easily connects to Wimoto�s cloud servers. Any mote can be connected to these servers to send and store data in the cloud.
Motes is seeking funding on Indiegogo. So far, the crowd has taken notice � the project is well past its $22,000 goal and nearing $100,000.
